At this point a bride should know something about what type of foods she wants to serve at her wedding.
She should have a budget before she begins to choose her caterer. So when talking with different caterers the planner and bride needs to know different things such as:
1. cost of food
2. taste- do they offer tastings
3. what is supplied- do they supply linens, dinnerware
4. Check with the venue to see if they have an approved list of specific caterers allowed.
There are usually two types of reception choices that most wedding have.
1. Food Bar or Buffet syle- This choice is more relaxed. Food can be selected at the wedding, more food choices. This style encourages mingling amongst guest. Different types of bars can be set up. For example: Taco bar, Italian food bar, Salad bar, etc... A downfall would be that guest have to wait in a line to get their food and carry it back to their table.
2. Sit Down Dinner- This choice or style is usually more elegant, with servers waiting on the guest. It is usually when a guest chooses from a specific menu on what they would like to eat, beforehand. Some downfalls to this choice is the guest may not like the food prepared after tasting it or want what someone else has instead.
